Three Favourites Minus Books

Books are the protagonists of this blog. I only tend to mention other favourites on my quarterly (and previously monthly) favourites. As those posts are restricted to a specific time period, today I decided to share with you my three general and all-time favourites from seven categories that aren’t in the realm of books, though most are still connected with the arts.

I wondered whether I should turn this post into a tag. As I don’t know if someone has already had a similar idea and also don’t want to tag bloggers who are not interested in sharing their favourites, I decided not to. However, please feel free to write a similar post if you want to.

Three Favourite Music Artists

  1. Arctic Monkeys
  2. Muse
  3. Royal Blood

This category deserves further comment, because in the latest years the order of my favourites has changed. For a long time, Muse was my favourite band. However, after not liking Simulation Theory and only enjoying around half of the songs in The 2nd Law and Drones, they were replaced by Arctic Monkeys, whose albums I’ve consistently loved. Plus, Alex Turner is a better lyricist than Matt Bellamy. The band in the third place keeps changing, but at the moment that place is firmly in the hands of Royal Blood.

Three Favourite Music Albums

  1. Absolution – Muse
  2. Black Holes and Revelations – Muse
  3. AM – Arctic Monkeys

Three Favourite Songs

  1. Butterflies and Hurricanes – Muse
  2. Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen
  3. When the Sun Goes Down – Arctic Monkeys

Do you know what’s sad about “Butterflies and Hurricanes” being my favourite song of all time? I’ve seen Muse live six times and they didn’t play the song in those gigs.

Three Favourite Films

  1. Pride and Prejudice
  2. Atonement
  3. Mona Lisa Smile

Three Favourite TV Series

  1. Game of Thrones
  2. Sherlock
  3. Dark

Three Favourite Dishes

  1. Lasagne
  2. Codfish with béchamel sauce
  3. Pizza

Regarding this category, it’s important to note that I only like lasagne with pork mince. Some Italians may at this point be having a heart attack, but I don’t like the taste of beef! Plus, if you are wondering what the hell is cod with béchamel sauce, it’s a Portuguese dish that consists of salted and dried codfish, which is shredded after being boiled, mixed with grated carrots, parsley, very thin chips and béchamel sauce. It goes into the oven and voilà!

Three Favourite Painters

  1. Paula Rego
  2. Vincent van Gogh
  3. Edvard Munch

These are my favourites from these seven categories. Do you have any, more or less stable, favourites not related to books? Tell me in the comments!
